The Township stretches to the
middle-East of the Ferrarese Province, on a surface of 15700 hectares. Copparo borders
with five other towns: Ferrare, Ro, Berra, Jolanda
di Savoia, Formignana. The extent of the land is a remarkable fact, considering it is
entirely flat and no part of it knows either degradation or neglect. On the contrary, it
is strongly urbanized with regard to dwelling, production and agriculture settlements. The
territory is crossed by seven provincial roads, which function about 53 Km. long like a
realtraffic junction between the centre and the Basso Ferrarese (Ferrara lowland).
The overall roadway network is 240 Km long. The distance between the two extreme points of
the territory is 30 Km. There are many watercourses as a result of the big land
reclamation carried out since the sixteenth century. With regard to the water situation
the Township of Copparo lies between the main Po mouth (that is 2 km. far from the
northern border, and it is 18 Km long from the East to the West) and the Po di Volano
southwards. Big works have beeen carried out in the territory by the Consorzio di
Bonifica I circondario of Ferrara to pump and lift the waters for the irrigation
during the seasonal floods in the channel network. |
